What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I would have a mainstream film company distribute my film, as the product would be produced by an independent company, so the budget may not be able to cover everything, so a deal with a mainstream company can be seen as more efficient, and has been done often in the film industry. This is because the Big 6 are mainstream film companies that create and own many franchises, meaning they are highly successful when producing and especially distributing their products.


The mainstream company would be able to distribute my film in many unique ways that an independent company would not be able to do, for example creating a Snapchat filter to promote the film and word of mouth, or getting the cast to mention and promote the film in interviews or events set up before the release to generate more interest from and attract an audience. An independent company would have a smaller budget (unless they had a co-production deal or were funded), meaning that their main priority for distribution would be releasing a poster and a trailer, and then if they had enough budget, they would focus on other methods. Because of this, a mainstream company would be a better option for distributing my product. However this could only be made possible if the film had the potential to be a huge  success at the box office, gaining a massive profit. This would give the product a better chance at getting a deal with another company to distribute the film to ensure of this success.
On the other hand, because the film company producing the product independent, this could be reflected in the distribution of it, as this is another possibility

Editing (Rough Cut): When starting to edit for my opening sequence, I split it into three parts: Walking (The character of Alice) Title sequence (on a separate document to the other 2 parts) Talking (between Alice and Jamie) I put the title sequence on to a separate file, as I will be doing most of the editing for this on After-effects. When doing this I will be adding animations to the title pieces and a fog/smoke mask to each scene to portray this eerie/mysterious atmosphere for the audience. The other two parts were done on Premier Pro and effects are yet to be added, as I have been working on the rough cut up until this point. Pan Shots Pan shot- This shot is used to make the camera look left to right, for example, in a scene where we are following the subject. A steadicam can be used to get a smooth or professional shot, or it can even be handheld , especially during a POV shot to make it look more realistic. Its is the most simple and common method of camera movement, and is often used to do a sweep of an environment, which can set the scene and introduce it to the viewer.  Whip pan-  This shot is similar to the pan, however it is faster so that it gives a blurred effect. It is commonly used as a transition between shots, and can express a change in time or scene. It can also be frequently seen in cartoons, often accompanied by a 'whoosh' sound effect.  Zoom Shots Zooming in/out- This does not require the camera to move, but it creates the illusion that it is further/closer to the action or subject. Close-Ups: Extreme Close up- Used for a specific reason, for example to show an emotion of a character and to focus on a particular area of the image, for example with the image on the right, the viewer is drawn to the subject's eyes and the reflection in their glasses, as some form of action is taking place, so it intrigues the audience and catches their eye. This shot can connote mystery and can be seen as very dramatic, often used in horrors/thrillers to create tension and suspense within the audience. Close-up- This shot is good for showing detail and can be used as a cut in (refers to showing some part of the subject in detail). In this example, instead of showing one feature such as the eyes, the whole face is shown, which makes it easier to portray the subject's emotion and exaggerates their facial expression.
